Identify real, high-value AI improvements - and turn them into a prioritised, executive-ready action plan.
A half-day workshop that maps specific AI opportunities to your operation, department by department, and turns them into a prioritised 18-month roadmap.
If you know your business, you already know where it runs well - and where it doesn't.
The scheduling bottleneck. The reporting that chews half of Friday. The quality checks that rely on one person's experience. The quote process that takes two days when it should take two hours.
The question isn't whether AI could help. It's which opportunities are worth acting on, in what order, and what needs to be in place to make them work. The AI Opportunity Mapping Workshop surfaces those opportunities systematically, department by department, and builds them into a sequenced 18-month roadmap.
Five tangible outputs.
-
The Opportunity Mapping Report
A full written report covering the complete opportunity landscape across the business, with opportunities rated on effort and impact, a phased 18-month roadmap with dependency logic, and specific recommendations for the next 60 days.
-
The Opportunity Mapping Briefing
A condensed companion covering the headline findings, top opportunities, and the roadmap at a glance. A faster read that stands alone - and pairs with the full Report when deeper context is useful.
-
Department-by-Department Opportunity Landscape
Every function - operations, sales, finance, compliance, support, marketing - walked through systematically. Opportunities surface from people who do the work, not from a generic AI use-case list.
-
A Prioritised, Dependency-Aware Roadmap
Each opportunity rated on effort (Low/Medium/High), impact (Low/Medium/High), and priority (Now/Next/Later). Every Now recommendation is either a prerequisite for what follows or a quick win that builds confidence.
-
Readiness Context
Where readiness gaps would block execution, we flag them. You don't leave with surprises - you leave knowing what has to be true for the roadmap to work.
Three steps.
- STEP 01
The Workshop
Half day, in-person
4 to 6 hours with your leadership team and, ideally, function or department leads. Facilitated on-site or at a Christchurch venue. We work department by department, using structured discovery prompts. Opportunities are surfaced, discussed, and initially rated in the room.
- STEP 02
Analysis & Write-Up
2 weeks
We synthesise everything, apply consistent scoring across the opportunity set, build the sequenced roadmap with dependencies, and write both the Report and the Briefing. You review drafts before anything is final.
- STEP 03
Delivery
60 min, virtual or in-person
We walk the leadership team through the roadmap, the sequencing logic, and the Now recommendations. Questions answered. Suggested next 30 days clear.
$4,500 + GST. Flat fee, all-inclusive.
Half-day workshop, written Report, written Briefing, delivery session.
Note: while this workshop can stand alone, organisations who complete the AI Strategy & Capability Baseline first receive a more tailored analysis and significantly reduced on-site time.
The Guarantee
If your leadership team doesn't walk away with meaningful strategic clarity, you don't pay.
The framework adapts to any operation.
Binary Refinery is an independent AI strategy consultancy based in Christchurch. Founded by Kat Mac - 20 years in technology, former GM at a nationwide NZ financial services organisation, MBA, board-level governance experience.
We don't sell tools. We don't take vendor referral fees. We have no allegiance to any AI platform, model, or software provider. That independence is what lets us tell you which of your opportunities are worth acting on, not which ones help us sell you something.
We work with NZ businesses of 30 to 200 staff, and we cover sectors that most AI consultancies avoid - manufacturing, processing, logistics, operational services - alongside professional services. The same framework adapts to any operation.
Critical success factor
Full engagement.
A successful workshop is built on focused attention and active contribution from every person in the room. To get the most value, we need one thing above all else: your full engagement.
- Leaves laptops and phones aside.
- Stays engaged for the full session - even when the conversation shifts between different parts of the business.
- Shares their knowledge openly - the insights we need are already inside your organisation.
The brains trust is in the room.
Common questions.
Who from our leadership team needs to be in the room?
Ideally: CEO / Managing Director, someone who owns data/technology, someone who owns people/operations, someone who owns marketing/sales, finance, and any leader responsible for customer experience or risk. You don't need a large group - you need the right decision-makers and the people who understand how work actually happens.
So we have an AI Opportunity Roadmap - now what?
Implementation can follow several paths: your internal team executes the plan, you engage external AI developers or partners (Binary Refinery can recommend, not sell), or Binary Refinery supports selectively with strategy, governance, vendor evaluation, or project oversight. The roadmap is built to be actionable regardless of who implements it.
How much of our time is required?
Most leadership teams spend 4–6 hours total. Binary Refinery does the heavy lifting - you simply show up ready to think, discuss, and decide. No homework unless requested.
Do we need technical staff present?
No. These sessions are designed for strategic decision-makers, not IT teams or data scientists. If you'd like your technology leaders present, they're absolutely welcome - but not required.
What if we already have internal AI initiatives underway?
Great - the workshop will pressure-test your current direction, confirm priorities, expose blind spots or duplication, and tighten sequencing and focus. You don't lose momentum, you sharpen it.
How does this work if we already have an IT provider?
Binary Refinery works alongside your existing partners. We remain independent - no commissions, no preferred vendors. Your IT provider is welcome to participate, and the resulting roadmap will make their role clearer and more effective.
Will the roadmap take our existing tech stack into account?
Absolutely - and this is a core value point. A good AI roadmap doesn't just look for new tools. It identifies untapped value in the systems you already pay for, including AI functionality or integrations inside platforms like Microsoft 365, CRMs, ERPs, ticketing systems, and analytics tools. Many organisations get faster ROI by fully using what they already own.
Who will do the implementing?
Implementation is entirely your choice. Binary Refinery maintains independence - we never push products, platforms, or preferred vendors, and we never accept referral fees. Options include your internal team (with Binary Refinery guiding), Binary Refinery as project advisor, external AI developers we can introduce (with zero financial incentive), or your existing IT MSP where appropriate.
How do we know the actions will be valuable, usable, and realistic?
Every recommendation is derived directly from your own leadership team's inputs, scored through Binary Refinery's value system, assessed across impact, cost, risk, effort, ownership, ROI, and prerequisites, and finalised collaboratively so nothing ends up vague or unachievable.
