Binary Refinery
01 Social Impact & AI Safety

Our commitment to a safer, more informed digital future.

Binary Refinery helps organisations use AI responsibly while reducing harms - particularly for vulnerable communities. Businesses working with AI have a responsibility to contribute to its safe use, not just its adoption.

02 Why this matters

The risks AI creates fall unevenly.

AI is reshaping how information flows, who can be impersonated, and what counts as evidence. The risks are not evenly distributed. Some communities - particularly young people and older adults - are facing rising exposure to harms they're not equipped to navigate alone.

We focus our social impact work where we believe it's most needed: education for the adults supporting these communities, and financial support for the organisations doing the frontline work.

03 Our approach

Three ways we contribute.

  • 01

    Education

Free seminars for schools, parents and seniors on AI safety, deepfake awareness and AI-enabled scams. Plain-language sessions, designed for adults - focused on practical harm reduction, not technical jargon.

  • 02

    Financial Support

We contribute a portion of revenue each year to organisations combating online abuse, protecting children from digital exploitation, helping seniors avoid fraud, and advancing thoughtful AI governance. We publish the list of supported organisations annually.

  • 03

    Responsible Practice

Rigorous standards across our own work - no hype, no exaggeration, no fear-based narratives. We protect privacy, respect human dignity, and model the standards we advocate for our clients. Read the full policy.
